Our Story

In 2016, a small apartment in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, became the birthplace of We Rise International. Social worker Janelle Bitikofer and attorney Amy Vercler, friends from Raleigh, North Carolina, met over coffee to discuss the pressing issues facing communities worldwide. Their conversation spanned mental health, climate change, and the stark reality of young single mothers living on the streets of Addis Ababa. Despite the challenges, they recognized a powerful opportunity for hope and change.

With a vision to empower communities, Janelle and Amy gathered a global team of experts, including development workers, medical professionals, and business leaders. Together, they established We Rise International, dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to improve their health, social well-being, and economic status.

Our Impact
