Our Story

We Are Healers is a transformative initiative dedicated to showcasing the stories of Native American health professionals. Founded by Dr. Erik Brodt, MD, during his tenure at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, this nonprofit aims to inspire Native youth to envision themselves in various healthcare roles, including dentists, nurses, and physicians. With support from tribes and organizations across Wisconsin and the Great Lakes Region, the initiative is making a significant impact.

Our Impact

Since its inception, We Are Healers has mobilized over $150,000 in educational and workforce development opportunities for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) health students. This effort has led to increased enrollment in health-related educational programs, addressing the critical underrepresentation of Native Americans in healthcare.
