About Wayuu Taya Foundation

The Wayuu Taya Foundation, meaning 'I am Wayúu' in the Wayúu dialect, was established in 2002 with a mission to uplift the indigenous communities in the Mara region of Venezuela. The foundation began its journey by constructing a preschool for 30 children, addressing the dire educational needs in a region plagued by extreme poverty and lack of infrastructure. Over the past two decades, the foundation has expanded its reach, providing humanitarian aid, sustainable water, and agriculture programs, positively impacting over one million lives.

Impact of the Foundation

Through its dedicated efforts, the Wayuu Taya Foundation has significantly improved access to food, medicine, and education for the most vulnerable populations along the Venezuela-Colombia border. The foundation's initiatives have transformed lives, fostering hope and resilience in communities facing adversity.
