Our Story

The Watts Gang Task Force was established in December 2005 after a violent conflict led to an 18-day gang war in Watts. Concerned citizens, local officials, and law enforcement came together to mediate a ceasefire between rival gangs, fostering a long-term truce. Since then, the organization has dedicated itself to building relationships among gangs, law enforcement, and the community, significantly reducing violent crime in the area.

Impact

Two years after its inception, the Watts Gang Task Force achieved a remarkable 50% reduction in violent crime in Watts. The organization has enhanced communication and collaboration between community leaders and law enforcement, contributing to a safer environment for all residents.
