Our Story
Founded in May 2004 by a group of fearless MFA Theatre students, Washington Ensemble Theatre emerged from a classroom at the University of Washington. The company began its journey in the cozy confines of The Little Theater, where the only bathroom was on stage, and the seats were well-loved. Despite these humble beginnings, it quickly became a beloved home for Seattle’s most talented theatre artists. In 2013, the theatre found a new home at the state-of-the-art 12th Avenue Arts, a multi-use facility in the heart of Capitol Hill. With a fresh wave of ambitious artists at the helm, Washington Ensemble Theatre has continued to flourish, producing groundbreaking theatre that challenges and inspires audiences.
