Our Story

The Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Memorial and Museum was founded by Retired Lieutenant Donald Blake, driven by a passion to restore the memorial fountain that has stood since 1942. This organization is dedicated to honoring the brave officers of the Metropolitan Police Department who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, while also preserving the rich history of policing in the Nation's Capital.

Impact

In May 2023, the organization successfully renovated the Memorial Fountain and constructed a Memorial Wall inscribed with the names of all fallen MPD officers. This significant milestone serves as a lasting tribute to the 125 officers who have died since the department's founding in 1861.
