Our Story

The Washington Association of New Jersey (WANJ) was established in 1874 to protect the historic Ford Mansion, where General George Washington and his staff took refuge during the Revolutionary War. Partnering with the Morristown National Historical Park, WANJ plays a vital role in maintaining the legacy of General Washington and the Continental Army.

For nearly 150 years, WANJ has been instrumental in preserving the Jacob Ford Mansion and surrounding historical sites, contributing to the creation of the first national historical park in the United States.
