Our Story

The Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League, founded in 1998 by Cindy Neely, is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Alaskan Malamutes in Washington State and Oregon. With a mission to raise awareness about the breed's unique characteristics, WAMAL promotes responsible ownership and provides essential education and support to the community. This 100% volunteer-run organization has been making a positive impact for over 20 years, ensuring that every Malamute receives the love and care they deserve.

WAMAL is part of the national rescue network, Alaskan Malamute Assistance League, which extends its reach across the United States. The organization provides hope to families needing to rehome their beloved Malamutes and offers training support to those striving to keep their furry companions. By collaborating with shelters and rescuing strays, WAMAL ensures that every dog receives a thorough adoption process, actively recruiting adopters and foster homes.

Impact

WAMAL has rescued hundreds of Malamutes, each one cherished and remembered.
