Our Story

Founded in 2010, Chalk Hill Artist Residency embodies the vision of the late John Carl Warnecke, an internationally renowned architect. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit was established to create a vibrant art colony on a 280-acre property in Sonoma County, California, where artists from diverse backgrounds can live and work together.
