Our Story

In 1980, James Tengatenga left Malawi for Austin, Texas, where he found a welcoming community at St. David’s Episcopal Church. His journey back to Malawi in 1984 ignited a passion for service that has flourished over the decades. In 1992, the Southern Malawi Outreach Committee was formed to strengthen the bond between St. David’s and the Diocese of Southern Malawi. This partnership has led to transformative initiatives, including funding Josie Tengatenga's seminary training and building a diocesan school.

In 2006, Warm Heart International was established as a nonprofit organization, focusing on critical areas such as water access, education, and nutrition. The mission is to foster sustainable development and improve the quality of life for the people of Southern Malawi.

Our Impact

Since 2005, Warm Heart International has collaborated with the Anglican Diocese of Southern Malawi to install nine boreholes and fresh water wells, providing essential access to clean water for countless families. These projects have not only improved health outcomes but have also empowered communities to thrive.
