Transforming Lives Through Mentorship

Walking Tall Southern Oregon was founded in 2012 by Tom and Judy Smurzynski, driven by a passion to uplift young men in grades 7 through 12. This nonprofit organization provides a unique environment where these young men can engage in hands-on learning experiences in woodworking, carpentry, automotive, welding, fabricating, small engine theory, and computer CAD design. With the guidance of compassionate life coaches, they build personal respect, integrity, and character while developing essential job-readiness skills.

A Response to Community Needs

The inspiration for Walking Tall arose from a tragic incident that highlighted the urgent need for positive male role models in the lives of young boys. Tom and Judy, parents of two daughters, recognized the void left by teen violence and felt compelled to make a difference. Through their dedicated efforts, they have created a nurturing space where young men can find hope and purpose through Christian faith-based mentorship.

Impacting Futures

Through the ministry of Walking Tall, young men are gaining confidence, good character, and occupational skills, all while discovering a God who loves them.
