Our Story

Walking Palms Global Health Incorporated emerged as a grassroots response to the catastrophic 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Ecuador’s Pacific coast in April 2016. This disaster, compounded by the strongest El Niño event on record, highlighted the urgent need for health services in affected communities. In the aftermath, dedicated doctors, nurses, and volunteers rallied to provide care to over 6,000 local residents. Recognizing the necessity for sustainable health initiatives, Walking Palms evolved into an interdisciplinary global health organization focused on building social resilience through community-led programs.

Our Impact

Research conducted by Walking Palms reveals that historically vulnerable groups face a higher incidence of disease and mental health issues compared to wealthier segments of the same community. By utilizing locally gathered data, our programs empower local leaders and strengthen community ties, equipping residents with the tools needed to adapt and thrive in a changing world.
