Our Story

Waggytail Rescue began in 2004 when founder Holly DeRito discovered a heartbreaking reality at NYCACC. After rescuing seven dogs from imminent euthanasia, Holly's passion for animal rescue ignited. Over the years, this initiative blossomed into a dedicated network of volunteers, fosters, and partners across states like Texas, Louisiana, and California. Today, Waggytail Rescue continues to save lives, providing shelter and care to countless animals in need.

Impact

Since 2015, Waggytail Rescue has successfully rescued 3,297 dogs and 716 cats, leading to over 4,013 adoptions and 175 transports.
