Our Story

Founded in 1896 by Christian social reformers Maud and Ballington Booth, Volunteers of America (VOA) is dedicated to uplifting America’s most vulnerable populations. With a strong foundation in faith-based principles, VOA Southeast has been a beacon of hope since its inception in 1980, starting with three group homes for individuals with developmental disabilities in Mobile, Alabama. Today, VOA Southeast serves communities across Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi, providing essential programs for veterans, low-income seniors, children and youth, the homeless, and individuals facing addiction and mental health challenges.

Impact

Each year, VOA Southeast positively impacts the lives of over 54,000 individuals, empowering them to achieve independence and well-being.
