Our Story
Founded in 1896 by Christian social reformers Maud and Ballington Booth, Volunteers of America is dedicated to uplifting America’s most vulnerable populations. With a strong foundation in faith-based principles, Volunteers of America Southeast has been a beacon of hope since its inception in 1980. Initially starting with three group homes for individuals with developmental disabilities in Mobile, Alabama, the organization has since expanded its reach across Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. Today, it provides essential services to veterans, low-income seniors, children and youth, the homeless, and individuals facing mental health challenges and substance use disorders.
