Our Story
Founded in 1896 by Christian social reformers Maud and Ballington Booth, Volunteers of America (VOA) is dedicated to uplifting America’s most vulnerable populations. With a strong foundation in faith-based principles, VOA Southeast has been a vital presence in the community since 1980, initially starting with three group homes for individuals with developmental disabilities in Mobile, Alabama. Over the years, VOA Southeast has expanded its reach across Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi, providing essential services to veterans, low-income seniors, children and youth, the homeless, and individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges.
