Our Story

Volunteers of America was founded in 1896 by Maud and Ballington Booth, with a mission to support vulnerable populations. In 1980, Volunteers of America Southeast was established, initially focusing on group homes for individuals with developmental disabilities in Mobile, Alabama. Today, it has expanded its services across Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi, providing essential support to veterans, low-income seniors, children and youth, the homeless, and individuals struggling with addiction and mental illness.
