Our Story
Established in 1981, Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) emerged in response to a federal court mandate that reshaped public education in Baton Rouge. With a vision that every child deserves a quality education, VIPS mobilizes the community to support local schools. Each year, over 500 volunteers are recruited, trained, and placed in East Baton Rouge Parish public schools, providing essential resources and support to under-performing students.
