Our Story
Established in 2002 by co-founders James Burt, MD and Dottie Dorion, RN, MS, Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville opened its doors in September 2003. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to advancing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the working uninsured in Northeast Florida. Staffed by over 230 active and retired healthcare professionals, the clinic provides essential services to those in need.
Impact
With more than 20 years of service, Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville has delivered over 96,000 clinical patient appointments to approximately 12,000 patients. The organization focuses on keeping individuals healthy, employed, and out of emergency rooms by offering free primary and specialty care.
