Our Story
The Volunteer Ministry Center (VMC) was established in 1987 by downtown churches to address the urgent need for a daytime shelter for the growing number of homeless individuals in Knoxville. VMC provides specialized services to those experiencing homelessness and community members in crisis, operating several key programs including the Resource Center, Rapid Rehousing, Bush Family Refuge, Minvilla Manor, Caswell Manor, Street Outreach, and a Dental Clinic.
Impact
Since 2007, VMC has helped over 1,300 of Knoxville’s most vulnerable individuals find freedom from the streets, with an impressive 91% maintaining their housing for a year or longer.
