In 2009, community leaders recognized the urgent need for dental care among uninsured individuals in Muskegon County. Inspired by the Dentists’ Partnership program in Calhoun County, they initiated efforts to improve access to dental services. After conducting a Community Needs Health Assessment, it became clear that over 13,000 residents were in need. The program officially launched in July 2013, following a successful pilot that engaged local dentists and organizations.
Since January 2014, Volunteer For Dental has dedicated over 39,000 volunteer hours, delivering more than $2 million in dental services to those in need.
