Our Story

Founded in February 2004, Voices Rising began as a gathering of women in a living room, united by a passion for singing. Over the years, this feminist chorus has expanded to include individuals from diverse gender identities, including trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary members. With performances at significant events like the Boston Women’s March for America, Voices Rising has become a beacon of activism and community support, celebrating the rich tapestry of LGBTQIA+ and women’s communities in and around Boston.

Our Impact

Voices Rising has performed over 300 songs, many composed by women, and has collaborated with various community organizations to address pressing issues such as homelessness, domestic violence, and breast cancer awareness. The chorus actively participates in Pride events, contributing to the women’s choral movement and strengthening community ties through the power of music.
