In 2007, a pivotal conversation among Oklahoma City’s clergy and faith leaders sparked the formation of VOICE in 2012. With 27 member institutions and over 1,200 attendees at the founding convention, VOICE adopted the IAF model of broad-based organizing to tackle pressing issues like anti-immigrant legislation.
VOICE has successfully saved Oklahoma consumers over $1 billion in proposed utility rate hikes and has held public utilities accountable, significantly improving the lives of working families in the Oklahoma City metro area.
