Founded in 1975 by a dedicated group of volunteers led by Marion Oeschsner, the Visiting Nurse Association of Indian River County Inc. (VNA) was established to meet the growing need for quality home healthcare services. With a commitment to serving all community members, regardless of their financial situation, VNA has become a cornerstone of compassionate care in Indian River County.

Our Journey

Starting with just one nurse director and one home health aide, VNA made 80 home visits in its first month. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services to include hospice care, private caregiving, and community wellness initiatives. The VNA Hospice House, a state-of-the-art facility in Vero Beach, provides 24/7 hospice care for families facing terminal illnesses.

Impact on the Community

Today, VNA stands as one of the largest employers and healthcare providers in Indian River County, delivering a continuum of care that includes home health, hospice, and community health services. The organization’s mobile health clinic, known as "health care on wheels," brings essential services directly to those in need.
