Empowering Women and Girls Together
Visionary Women was co-founded in 2014 by Angella and Lili, who recognized the need for a supportive community of women dedicated to philanthropy and leadership. Lili, a three-time mayor of Beverly Hills, often found herself as the only woman in leadership meetings, while Angella, an author on women’s leadership, understood the power of collective action. Inspired by the African proverb, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together," they set out to create a multi-generational and multi-ethnic community of women passionate about learning and driving change.
Over the years, Visionary Women has welcomed influential figures such as Gloria Steinem, Madeleine Albright, and Nobel laureates like Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkol Karman as guest speakers, enriching the community's mission. Today, Visionary Women has grown to approximately 300 members and has granted over $3 million to more than 200 organizations and initiatives that empower women and girls both locally and globally.
Impacting Lives
To date, Visionary Women has granted $3 million to over 200 nonprofit organizations that drive change for pressing issues facing women and girls in Los Angeles and around the globe.
