Our Story
In the summer of 1994, a small group of dedicated individuals gathered around a kitchen table to discuss a vision: creating a safe and effective way for people to help their neighbors. This vision led to the establishment of VINE Faith In Action, the first Faith in Action program in Minnesota and now the largest in the United States. VINE connects volunteers with those in need, fostering a community where everyone benefits.
VINE’s professional staff coordinates a network of trained volunteers who generously share their time and skills. From providing rides and assisting with home chores to delivering hot meals and offering companionship, VINE’s volunteers make a significant impact in the lives of those facing long-term health challenges and difficult life circumstances.
In 2006, VINE took a significant step by acquiring Mankato’s senior center, which had been struggling due to lack of funding. With a renewed focus on relevant programming and health and wellness initiatives, participation skyrocketed from 50 to 525 individuals in just five years. This success led to the opening of the VINE Adult Community Center (VACC) in July 2014, a 60,000 sq. ft. facility designed to support the needs of older adults and their caregivers.
