Our Story

Village Health Works was founded by Deogratias Niyizonkiza, who returned to Burundi to address the pressing health and educational needs of his community. From a small clinic, it has evolved into a state-of-the-art teaching hospital, emphasizing community involvement and resilience.

Impact

With over 74,857 home visits conducted by Community Health Workers, Village Health Works has achieved a remarkable 50% reduction in infant mortality over the last decade. The organization serves over 700 students, boasting a graduation rate that is twice the national average.
