Our Story

Village Exchange Center (VEC) was established in 2017 by the faith community of St. Matthew Lutheran Church to address the needs of a diversifying neighborhood in Aurora, Colorado. With over 20% of the city’s population being immigrants and refugees, VEC serves as a vital community center that celebrates cultural diversity and fosters connections among residents. Co-founded by Amanda Blaurock and Pastor Marcel Narucki, VEC has become an anchor for support and empowerment, activating its space to serve the community effectively.

Impact

In its seventh year of operation, VEC has made significant strides in supporting the community. The organization has granted $12.6 million in cash assistance and rental support to undocumented immigrants affected by COVID-19, serving over 28,000 individuals through various programs including housing, case management, and health services.
