Our Story

Villa Comunitaria began in 2005 as the South Park Information and Resource Center, addressing the needs of a diverse local population. Over the years, the organization has evolved, creating programs designed by participants themselves. Many former participants and volunteers have become active leaders within and beyond the organization. The success of Villa Comunitaria is driven by Promotoras Comunitarias, who are integral to the community they serve. Since 2013, leadership development within the Latinx population has been a priority, fostering a culturally relevant and welcoming environment. Presentations are conducted in Spanish, and families are supported with childcare and food, ensuring that everyone can access vital resources.

Impact

Villa Comunitaria's programs are crucial for helping immigrants in King County navigate the complexities of the U.S. immigration, housing, health, and education systems. Former participants now serve on the board, organize community initiatives, teach CPR in Spanish, lead adult basketball programs, and provide technology training. These efforts empower individuals and families to thrive and prosper in their new environment.
