Our Story
The Vashon Island Growers Association (VIGA) began in the 1980s with a vision to create sustainable jobs in farming. From a humble Farmer’s Market near the Post Office, VIGA has evolved into a vital organization that champions the full spectrum of island agriculture. Through the Farming in Community program, VIGA fosters education and collaboration among local farmers. The Get Growing initiative empowers home gardeners to cultivate their own food, while volunteers have helped establish a horticulture program at Vashon High School, focusing on organic practices.
