Our Story

In 1947, Mrs. Bernice Kussell recognized the unmet needs of children in Arizona state hospitals. Driven by hope and a vision for a better life, she opened her home to provide care for these children with developmental disabilities. As the demand grew, Mrs. Kussell founded Valley of the Sun School in 1949, which evolved into the Valley of the Sun School and Habilitation Center, and was rebranded as VALLEYLIFE in 2009. Today, VALLEYLIFE is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support services to individuals with disabilities, fostering their integration into the community.

VALLEYLIFE enhances the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by offering a range of programs and services. With a focus on independence and dignity, the organization empowers its members to lead fulfilling lives through daily living support, vocational training, and community engagement.
