Our Story

In 1947, Mrs. Bernice Kussell recognized the unmet needs of children in Arizona state hospitals. Driven by hope and a vision for a better life, she opened her home to provide care for these children with developmental disabilities. By 1949, her mission expanded, leading to the establishment of Valley of the Sun School, which evolved into the Valley of the Sun School and Habilitation Center, and was rebranded as VALLEYLIFE in 2009. Today, VALLEYLIFE is dedicated to offering comprehensive care and support services to individuals with disabilities, fostering their integration into the community.

Our Impact

VALLEYLIFE enhances the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, empowering them with choices, independence, and dignity. With a professional staff, the organization provides essential programs including residential services, adult day programs, vocational training, and personal care support.
