Our Story
For over 70 years, Valley Art Gallery has been a cornerstone of the East Bay arts community. Founded in 1949, it pioneered the belief that art enhances quality of life. The inaugural event, Outdoor Art Shows, showcased a vibrant mix of paintings, sculptures, and music, setting the stage for a rich tradition of artistic expression. As a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization, Valley Art Gallery is dedicated to providing a platform for approximately 150 emerging and established Bay Area artists and craftspersons. The gallery is renowned for its commitment to showcasing high-quality, affordable artwork, and it stands out as the only gallery in the East Bay offering a rental program, allowing patrons to experience original art in their homes before making a purchase. Additionally, the gallery actively supports art education in the community through the annual Gloria Marshall Memorial Gift, which funds art programs in selected schools.
