Our Story

Founded in 2013 by a group of passionate high school students, the USA Astronomy and Astrophysics Foundation (USAAO) emerged from a desire to represent the United States in international astronomy competitions. After learning about the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics, these students collaborated to form a national team, achieving remarkable success in their inaugural year.

Impact

In 2024, the US team made history by winning three gold medals and two silver medals at the IOAA, demonstrating the exceptional talent and dedication of young astronomers.
