Our Story

Founded in 2009 by Bill Leikam, known as 'The Fox Guy,' the Urban Wildlife Research Project (UWRP) was born from a passion for wildlife conservation. After discovering a family of gray foxes in the San Francisco Baylands, UWRP aims to foster harmony between urban life and local wildlife through dedicated research, advocacy, and public education.

Our Impact

UWRP has collected over 8 terabytes of unique data on gray fox behavior, significantly contributing to wildlife conservation efforts and raising public awareness. Despite challenges like the decline of local gray fox populations, UWRP remains committed to protecting vital habitats and corridors.
