Our Story
Founded in 1973, Urban Revival Inc, known as City Life/Vida Urbana, emerged from the grassroots efforts of local residents and activists committed to civil rights, feminism, and anti-war movements. For over four decades, CL/VU has been a powerful advocate for change in Boston, addressing the urgent needs of poor and working-class families. The organization began by tackling housing neglect and divestment, organizing tenants to reclaim their rights against slumlords who neglected their properties while raising rents. Through collective action, thousands of tenants engaged in rent strikes and legal battles, leading to significant victories such as the implementation of rent control protections.
