Our Story

The Urban League of Hampton Roads, Inc. (ULHR) was founded in 1978 as an affiliate of the National Urban League, the nation’s oldest and largest community-based movement. ULHR is dedicated to empowering African Americans and others to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights. Through a variety of programs and services, ULHR addresses critical issues in education, employment, health, and housing within the Hampton Roads community.
