Our Story

The Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake, formerly known as the Indian Walk-In Center, was established in 1974 to serve the diverse needs of American Indians in Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front. With a mission to aid and assist Native American people while respecting cultural values, the center has evolved to meet the growing demands of urban migration among Native Americans. In 2012, the center rebranded to better reflect its commitment to the community.

Impact

Each year, the center provides clinical and behavioral health services to approximately 5,587 patients. With a significant portion of the community living at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, and many lacking health insurance, the center plays a crucial role in delivering essential healthcare services.
