Our Story

Founded in 1989 by architect and regional planner Carl Anthony, Urban Habitat addresses the inequitable distribution of public funds and undemocratic decision-making that affects low-income communities of color. The organization strives to democratize power and advance equitable policies, creating a just and connected Bay Area.

Impact

Urban Habitat has successfully built multicultural leadership for sustainable development, broadening the definition of sustainability to include equity and justice.
