Our Story

In 2006, founder Tracy Oseran recognized that hunger is not just about access, but distribution. With her two teenagers, she began engaging local restaurants, grocery stores, and bakeries to collect perfectly good, unused food. This grassroots effort led to the establishment of Urban Gleaners, which has grown to rescue nearly 1.5 million pounds of food annually.

Our Impact

Urban Gleaners redistributes food to over 8,500 families each week, tackling both food waste and food insecurity in the Portland area.
