Our Story
Founded in 1983 after the tragic murder of Bobby Brown, Uptown Gay & Lesbian Alliance Inc. (UGLA) emerged to provide visibility and support for LGBTQ+ individuals in Northeast Los Angeles. Over the years, UGLA has evolved to champion charitable, educational, and community initiatives, raising funds for AIDS care and establishing scholarships for students committed to social justice.
Impact
Since its inception, UGLA has awarded over $300,000 in charitable matching funds and provided $42,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors advocating for LGBTQ+ social justice issues.
