Founded in 2008, Upstate Pride South Carolina emerged from a grassroots movement to advocate for the LGBTQ community. The first March & Festival, organized by members of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Spartanburg, attracted around 500 participants, marking a significant milestone in local support. Since then, the organization has expanded its reach, promoting equality and acceptance through various initiatives.
Upstate Pride SC empowers individuals of all gender expressions and sexual identities by fostering acceptance through education, advocacy, and networking.
