The Upstate Freshwater Institute was established in 1981 as a not-for-profit research corporation dedicated to enhancing water quality and advancing freshwater research. With over 40 years of experience, UFI has conducted interdisciplinary research on more than 100 of New York’s lakes, reservoirs, and rivers.
UFI has published over 340 peer-reviewed articles and received numerous awards, including an Environmental Quality Award from the USEPA in 2008 for its work on Onondaga Lake and New York City’s water supply reservoirs.
