Our Story

The Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. (UMCVFD) was established in 1946 through the dedication and support of the local community in western Montgomery County. Initiated by the Monocacy Lions Club, the formation of this volunteer fire department was a response to the growing need for emergency services. The first meeting took place on January 7, 1946, leading to the signing of the charter on April 26, 1946. Over the years, UMCVFD has evolved, including the formation of a Ladies Auxiliary in July 1946 to assist with fundraising efforts and the introduction of paid firefighters to enhance volunteer capabilities.

Impact

UMCVFD significantly enhances community safety and emergency response capabilities through dedicated fire and rescue services.
