Our Story
Founded in 1897, United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County has a rich history of advancing the common good. Originally established as the Charity Organization Society, it evolved into the Lincoln Community Chest in 1923 and became the United Way in 1976. This organization mobilizes the caring power of the community to address pressing needs and support a network of service providers.
Impact
In the past year, United Way answered over 13,000 crisis support calls, distributed nearly 7,000 books to children, and provided over 6 million pounds of food to those in need. These efforts significantly enhance the community's health, education, and financial stability.
