Our Story
Since 1943, United Way of Greater Charlottesville has faced the community’s greatest challenges head-on. From providing essential support to families during WWII to advocating for low-income working families during the Jim Crow era, this organization has always been a beacon of hope. In the 1980s, it took a stand against misinformation surrounding AIDS, fostering education and services that shaped the community's response. Today, United Way continues to unite people around the table to listen, learn, and problem-solve, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
