Our Story
The United Jewish Fund for Charlottesville was founded in the early 1980s by Ed Eitelberg to address the lack of a central organization for Jewish philanthropy in the area. After a period of dormancy in the 1990s, Ruth Hanft and others revitalized the fund in 2002, leading to its establishment as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2003. Since then, UJFC has raised over $25,000 in its first year and continues to support vital local and international Jewish humanitarian projects.
