Our Story

For over 60 years, residents of East New York, Brooklyn, have united to tackle community challenges and celebrate their strengths through the United Community Centers. Founded in 1954 by tenants in NYCHA buildings, UCC has evolved into a multi-service center dedicated to addressing the needs of the community.

Impact

UCC has successfully organized residents and families to engage in community issues, advocating for publicly funded day care centers and creating the largest youth-run farmers market in the country.
