Our Story

The United Communities Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1972 by dedicated residents of Kent Island who sought to enhance fire protection in their communities. With a commitment that saw original members mortgage their homes to fund the department, UCVFD has grown significantly, responding to nearly 500 emergency calls annually and serving a population that has increased by 216% over the last decade.

Our Impact

UCVFD provides all-hazards protection to the southern portion of Kent Island, responding to over 500 emergency calls each year and serving more than 2,400 homes without a public water supply.
