Our Inspiring Journey

In 1945, a heartfelt plea from local broadcaster Al Sigl sparked the creation of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of the Rochester Area Inc, known as CP Rochester. The story began with a simple request for a modified tricycle for a child with disabilities, which resonated deeply with Mrs. Ralph Amdursky, whose son had cerebral palsy. This moment ignited a movement that would change the lives of countless families in the Rochester area.

After hearing the call for help, the Amdurskys, who had traveled across the country seeking support for their son, recognized the urgent need for local resources. They gathered 50 parents of children with disabilities in November 1945, leading to the establishment of a community-focused organization dedicated to providing essential services and support.

By September 1946, CP Rochester opened its first center, marking the beginning of a legacy that has now spanned over 78 years. The organization has continually evolved, adapting to the needs of individuals with disabilities and their families, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.
